Cookie 4: Holiday Snowball Cookies

My favorite holiday cookies my mom made growing up were Mexican Wedding Cake cookies. What's not to love? There is butter, sugar, and more sugar. I have added chocolate chips to these cookies, because why not?

The recipe for this cookie came from the JOY of cooking.

Ingredients:

1 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup powered sugar, 1/3 set aside for topping
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup of chocolate holiday morsels

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt until creamy.
  3. Gradually add the flour to the mixture.
  4. Stir in the holiday morsels.
  5. Form the dough into 1 inch balls and place on the pan.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  7. Sift the 1/3 cup of powdered sugar over the cookies.
  8. Nom, Nom!
